Safety First Because what kind of CPR/First Aid and Survival Instructors would we be if that wasn’t our first rule?

We firmly believe how we teach is as important as what information we provide. We promise that you will never nod off in one of our classes. You’ll learn more, and retain more of that knowledge over time.
Serious skills. Seriously fun classes.
Here at Straight Ahead Rescue we specialize in teaching you skills we hope you never have to use. And while we hope you never need them, if someday you do, we want you to feel as prepared and confident as possible.
Performing CPR or using an AED on someone whose heart has stopped, injecting someone having a life-threatening allergic reaction with an EpiPen, knowing how to stop the bleeding on a deep cut, understanding what you need to do to survive an unplanned night in the woods. We get it--these skills can seem daunting. Other trainings can border on looking like a military boot camp. It doesn't have to be that way. We believe the topics are serious, but class doesn't always have to be.

Increasing public awareness of the importance of early intervention and ensuring greater public access to defibrillation will save many lives. Straight Ahead Rescue train more than 1000 people every year by educating healthcare providers, caregivers, and the general public on how to respond to these emergencies.
Federal Agencies
The simplest answer anyone can give to explain why CPR training for the workplace is important is the fact that it saves lives. When someone in the workplace suddenly goes into cardiac arrest and there is no one around who knows how to perform CPR or use an AED (automated external defibrillator), then that person’s chances of survival decreases significantly

I definitely recommend Straight Ahead Rescue. I am the owner of Saltwater Excursions, a Halibut Charter business in Whittier, Alaska. Ever year we contract Straight Ahead Rescue to conduct our First Aid and CPR/AED training that is required by the United States Coast Guard. Adam is very professional and very flexible when it comes to the scheduling and conducting of the class. He listens to the unique needs of our business and really individualizes the class for us.

I recently participated in the Wilderness Remote First Aid course given by Adam. Even though the classroom situation became less than ideal (through no fault of his), he forged ahead, adapting as necessary, to make sure that the remaining students got as much out of the class as possible. I’d recommend this class – and Adam – to anyone who lives or plays in Alaska. In addition to all the technical skills he teaches, he shows you how a little knowledge and some forethought can make a world of difference when faced with a medical emergency when there isn’t an ambulance or hospital nearby!

I recently completed the Wilderness First Aid course, and I cannot possibly give it higher marks. I learned an amazing amount of material and, even better, I learned how to apply it in realistic situations. The course was focused on applying the knowledge learned in the classroom portions. The instructors were engaging, comedic (ok… attempted), and focused on real world results of getting an individual with trauma stabilized – which is the best possible opportunity for a positive outcome. The wilderness can be unforgiving, and Adam and the folks at Straight Ahead Rescue cut to the chase on what works and what doesn’t. The decision making they teach has life and death consequences – not only for those with a medical issue, but also for those engaged in responding.
