This class reviews emergency scene size-up and keeping yourself safe, legal liabilities, patient consent, including consent for minors, preventing infectious disease transmission, how to differentiate between responsive and non-responsive patients, and how to collect appropriate medical history from patients.
You will also review how to respond to cardiac emergencies in adults, children, and infants, focusing on any relevant updates in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques, with and without rescue breathing, and when and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
In the First Aid portion of the review, you will practice the specific techniques to treat choking and first aid emergencies in adults, children, and infants.
Prerequisites: Students must have a current Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or one that has been expired for less than 60 days. Students must be able to demonstrate understanding of class concepts, and physically perform the skills presented.
Course Length: 3 hours.
Certification: After successful completion of the class, students will receive an American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification that is valid for two years. Certificates are digital (PDF files) and can be printed, saved, or emailed.
Standards: Review classes still meet OSHA and workplace safety requirements.
